When you’re stressed, what are you really feeling?
Stress is something that everyone faces in life. Whether you are a student, a working adult, or even when you’re a housewife.
Causes of Stress
Stress can be caused by mainly external and internal factors. External factors include
- Change of environment
- Unknown/new/unpleasant situations
- Financial pressure
- Major events
Internal factors include
- Emotions such as fear, anxiety, worry
- Unpleasant thoughts
It is almost impossible to eliminate stress and the various stressors in our daily lives. Stress often cause weariness – which indirectly leads to an increase in people wanting to travel, and to escape from stress temporarily.
The most direct driver of stress is actually due to the lack of oxygen in the brain. When faced with the various external and internal factors of stress, we often feel overwhelmed with the weight of each factor, and forget to breathe.
Yoga VS Stress
In Yoga, the breathing method is heavily focused upon. With each breath, you bring awareness to your body and your surrounding. With each breath, you draw energy into your lungs and mind. With each exhalation, you expel negative thoughts from your mind.
